Live audition November 30 & December 1, 2026 in Norfolk, Virginia; deadline for receipt of materials November 2, 2026. 2026-27 salary $41,106.24 plus $475.00 Electronic Media Guarantee and $1,468.08 optional community engagement, for total compensation of $43,049.32. The VSO performs a 36-week season of classical, pops, family, ballet and opera repertoire; positions receive 7.194% AFM pension. The position begins at the winner's earliest availability, and non-citizens must have US work authorization. Repertoire: Bach Cello Suite No. 3 Bourree (no repeats) and the first movement of a Koussevitsky, Bottesini or Vanhal concerto, plus solo excerpts from Ginastera Variaciones Concertantes, Prokofiev Lieutenant Kije, Stravinsky Pulcinella Suite and Verdi Otello, and orchestral excerpts from Beethoven 9, Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique, Brahms 2 and Mozart 40.
