Costume Performance Senior Technician (Wardrobe Assistant)

Permanent position, £46,324.62 per annum for 42.5 hours per week, based in Covent Garden, London. The Costume Performance team provides costume support to the artists of The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera and visiting companies; this Senior Technician works across both Opera and Ballet, managing a small team of Dressers and working alongside Technicians so that every dressing aspect is executed to the highest standard and follows the designer's vision. As RBO is a repertory house the postholder will often be juggling two or more productions at a time. Requirements: a varied background in costume and large-scale show running, great sewing technique (particularly repairs), exceptional knowledge of backstage costume work and dressing techniques, an understanding of fabrics, fibres and their laundering methods, good MS Office experience, and a desire to learn the nuances of costumes for opera and ballet. The role sits as an equivalent to a Wardrobe Assistant with construction and supervising capabilities. Req number 260; late applications will not be considered.
