Substitute Musician (Non-contract)

Non-contract substitute musician openings with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, filled by recorded audition with submissions accepted on a rolling basis, so there is no fixed application deadline. Candidates submit the online Substitute Musician Form with their name, instrument(s), email, phone number and resume, together with an audition recording of the published substitute repertoire. Recordings may be attached directly to the form, or if the file is too large, uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted video and submitted as a link; the form notes submissions must be unlisted or public YouTube links. The repertoire list is linked from the form. The Virginia Symphony performs a 36-week season including classical, pops, family, ballet and opera repertoire across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News and other Hampton Roads venues.
