A Distinguished Appointment
The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra has named British-Russian violinist Alina Ibragimova as its newest Artistic Partner, effective summer 2026.
Ibragimova joins a roster of distinguished Artistic Partners that includes British Baroque specialist Richard Egarr, American pianist Richard Goode, South African cellist Abel Selaocoe, Hungarian conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy, and German violist Tabea Zimmermann.
About Ibragimova
Alina Ibragimova is one of the most acclaimed violinists of her generation. Born in Russia and based in London, she is known for her penetrating interpretations of Bach, Beethoven, and contemporary music. Her recording of the Bach solo sonatas and partitas is widely regarded as a benchmark.
The SPCO Model
The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra operates without a single music director, instead drawing artistic leadership from its roster of Artistic Partners — each of whom brings a distinct musical personality and programming perspective.
This model is unusual in the orchestral world and has been praised for producing diverse, artistically adventurous seasons. For musicians interested in chamber orchestra careers, the SPCO represents a distinctive working environment where players have significant artistic input.
