Founded in 1891, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra is Scotland’s national orchestra, based at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and widely recorded. Thomas Søndergård was music director from 2018 until 2026, becoming music director emeritus; Giedrė Šlekytė, the orchestra’s first female music director, takes up the post in 2027.
