Founded in 1965, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra is one of Japan’s leading orchestras, performing at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan and Suntory Hall. Kazushi Ono served as music director from 2015 to 2026 and continues as artistic advisor; Pekka Kuusisto becomes chief conductor in 2028.
