Cadenza / Leadership Practice

Culture & Community

Build trust with method, not slogans.

A planned advisory practice for arts institutions strengthening organizational climate, accessibility, inclusive policy, stakeholder voice, and accountable community relationships.

Public inquiry boundary — do not send candidate, committee, relationship, or engagement records. A conversation does not create an engagement.

Evidence before assertion

Mandate profile

Built for institutions carrying consequential leadership risk.

  • 01Boards reviewing culture and accountability
  • 02Institutions strengthening accessibility
  • 03Organizations planning community engagement
  • 04Leadership teams reviewing policy and practice
  • 05Institutions rebuilding stakeholder trust
  • 06Organizations needing visible progress discipline

The work

A practice of listening, decision, and follow-through.

The planned method treats participation as a governed institutional process, with clear promises, protections, ownership, and feedback.

01

Climate and policy view

A bounded, evidence-led record of policy, practice, experience, gaps, limitations, and issues requiring specialist advice.

02

Accessibility priorities

A documented view of audience, artist, staff, digital, physical, and program access with ownership and decision paths.

03

Community compact

Clear purpose, participants, decision influence, promises, exclusions, safeguards, feedback, and accountability.

04

Progress record

Named owners, measures, review dates, published commitments where approved, and evidence of response or change.

Method / 01—04

The planned engagement method

Each stage has a named owner, evidence boundary, approval point, and stopping condition. The operating control is part of the work.

  1. 01

    Define the promise

Agree why participation is being requested, who holds authority, what can change, what cannot, and how feedback will return.

  2. 02

    Design safe participation

Set access, consent, confidentiality, anonymity, facilitation, escalation, data minimization, retention, and support controls.

  3. 03

    Separate evidence and response

Synthesize authorized evidence without erasing dissent, identifying protected participants, or converting experience into personality scores.

  4. 04

    Close the loop

Record decisions, owners, rejected options, rationale, commitments, review dates, and the approved response to participants.
