Cadenza / Leadership Practice

Retained Executive Search

Retained search, with governance inside the work.

A planned search model for arts and culture institutions where candidate consent, committee integrity, conflicts, evidence, closure, and public claims are controlled from the beginning.

Public inquiry boundary — do not send candidate, committee, relationship, or engagement records. A conversation does not create an engagement.

Evidence before assertion

Mandate profile

Built for institutions carrying consequential leadership risk.

  • 01Boards planning a chief-executive transition
  • 02Institutions defining a new leadership mandate
  • 03Search committees needing clear governance
  • 04Organizations with complex stakeholder groups
  • 05Boards reviewing internal and external options
  • 06Institutions preparing before a vacancy

The work

The governed search record

The target model treats the integrity of the process as a deliverable. It will not reduce executive judgement to an automated rank.

01

Mandate and profile

A versioned position mandate, competency framework, stakeholder evidence, and approval record tied to the real institutional need.

02

Research and consent

Separate prospect and candidate registers, source provenance, approved approach, purpose, and consent before identifiable presentation.

03

Committee integrity

Engagement-scoped access, confidentiality, conflicts, recusals, frozen dossier releases, and sealed independent evaluation.

04

Decision and closure

Diligence controls, immutable offer versions, candidate closure, placement, onboarding, guarantee evidence, and a complete governance record.

Method / 01—04

What must exist before the first mandate

Each stage has a named owner, evidence boundary, approval point, and stopping condition. The operating control is part of the work.

  1. 01

    Named leadership

An accountable Cadenza search lead, independent quality review path, and complaint reviewer with explicit authority and capacity.

  2. 02

    Approved commercial controls

Counsel-approved contracts, fees, expenses, guarantee terms, candidate notice, conflicts, off-limits, and marketplace neutrality.

  3. 03

    Funded risk controls

Insurance in force and an approved, fundable guarantee-reserve formula before guarantee-backed work is offered.

  4. 04

    Private delivery boundary

An approved manual private stack or the separate Leadership runtime, database, bucket, audit, and capability foundation.

Transparent fee guide
